A young master cello with a well-thought-out concept and perfectly successful execution
This young cello was created in 1988 in the workshop of Stöhr, Illner and Riedl (SIR Spezial-Cellobau) in the Franconian town of Igelsdorf. It is an instrument that has been carefully thought out down to the last detail and crafted to the highest standards, and it fulfills the highest musical demands with the warm, clear sound of its tenor-like character.
In pristine undamaged condition with only a few unobtrusive traces of use, this attractive cello is a fine example of the quality of artisanal violin making in the Bubenreuth region, which continues to this day thanks to the descendants of the masters expelled from the Bohemian-Saxon musical center after World War II. The exceptionally beautiful tone woods are a visible sign of the cello's quality: the maple used for the two-piece back has a narrow grain, and the spruce used for the top has a lovely grain with slight movement. These woods give the instrument its unique radiance under a tasteful orange-brown varnish. The original handwritten and dated label certifies the origin and authenticity of this cello, which the experts of the Corilon team recommend for advanced amateur musicians.
