Fine Italian cello by Cristiano Perletti, Cremona, 2014

This young Italian cello by Cristiano Perletti was created in 2014 and embodies the finest traditions of Cremonese violin making – with a truly lovely appearance and a beautiful, powerful sound rich in timbre.

We owe this discovery to a talented cellist who acquired the instrument directly from its master and sold it to us along with the original certificate of authenticity Perletti issued. With this excellent piece, Cristiano Perletti demonstrated his deep roots in the modern Cremonese violin-making tradition, his highly refined sense of style and his detailed knowledge of the acoustic distinctions of the cello as a truly challenging subject in the craft of making instruments. Typical characteristics of contemporary Cremonese stringed instruments can be seen here in the elegant carving of the scroll, the striking beesting corners, the delicate purfling and the beautiful yet subtle antiqued amber-coloured oil varnish with its slightly “milky” transparency; together, these features create an aesthetic of harmonious perfection in this cello. Its appearance is a perfect complement to its powerful sound, which promises good cellists nuanced interpretations as well as great musical joy as they explore its depth, rich timbres and pleasant warmth. Kept in flawless condition, this Cristiano Perletti cello has been carefully set up by the expert luthiers at our workshop and is ready to play; it also qualifies for our trade-in guarantee.
