This fine 3/4 sized violin was built approx. 1880 by an unknown violin maker in the French town of Mirecourt, the traditional home of many skilled craftsmen. The instrument was designed after a Guarneri model and features excellent craftsmanship, with a precisely inlaid purfling and an elegant scroll, a detailed work that was carved tastefully. The noble, antique appearance of the violin is determined by the dark red varnish that was applied over a light ground and developed interesting patina. The maple back was crafted of beautiful wood with narrow flames that are decorated by varnish of lighter color. With only very few traces of use this instrument is preserved in flawless condition and was worked over completely by our experienced luthiers, ready to express its recommendable voice that is warm, mature and with fluid character.
