This fine 1/2 sized violin has an outstandingly large, warm tone and is unmistakably a sophisticated French instrument for children and was made in the violin-making village of Mirecourt. Quality of this kind is quite rare in smaller instruments: the 1/2 violin was made of the finest woods in the Vosges mountains which have an especially lovely grain with a few whimsical flourishes. The radiantly transparent, orange-brown varnish gives the instrument an air of refinement and yet a friendly and attractive character. The small elegant scroll was carved with elegant expressiveness, while the sound holes were painstakingly crafted. This is a perfectly maintained instrument in every way, with some minor f-wing repairs at the soundholes only. The instrument was worked over meticulously by our luthiers, ready to fascinate and entice young musicians to play. Its warm and powerful, large, voluminous sound is bright in the upper registers and somewhat gentle in the lower ones, making it the ideal choice for early musical exploration — precise, full of character and with a well-rounded volume.
