A rare antique French 3/4 violin of the mid 19th century, handmade in Chaumont by the French luthier Auguste Hury around 1850. The original label by Auguste Hury is inside the instrument. Hury gave his work an attractive appearance, obviously inspired by the design of grandmaster Stradivari. The model is broad with flat archings and large soundholes. The instrument is varnished in an attractive bordeaux red color. The beautiful patination and signs of age underline the antique character of the 150 years old instrument. The instrument is in remarkably undamaged condition and has been professionally set up by our luthier. The violins strong highly differentiated sound is even and well balanced, matured, of a warm tonal character and with some softness in its tone.
