Good quality old and antique violin bows in ¾-size are highly sought-after rarities, especially if they can rightfully claim to come from a famous atelier or its direct tradition. This unstamped 3/4 violin bow was made around 1940 in the Morizot workshop in Mirecourt then the capital city for making bows in France. The ebony frog is mounted in nickel silver and features a petite mother-of-pearl eye and typical diameter distributions of the stick, as is common for violin bows which were made following the rich traditions of the Morizot studio. Brown bee wood was used for the round stick. Its balance point is measured at 22.8 cm (incl. button) and feels even more well-centred and very broad slightly inclined towards the frog. With a total weight of 47.9 g, this rare French 3/4 violin bow is very evenly balanced, and it has a distinctive lightness that lets young virtuosi play with great nuance.
