Petite antique French viola, Mirecourt circa 1870 (37.8 cm)

This delicate and extremely sonorous antique French viola from the 1870s was made by hand in Mirecourt. The body measures 37.8 cm in length (vibrating string length 34.6 cm). The top is made of beautiful medium grained spruce, the one-piece back is made of flamed maple. The varnish is a bright, darkened orange-brown, shiny and in very good condition. A repair to the suppository and two bending cracks on the rib, which occurred during construction, have been checked by us for harmlessness. This small French viola is generally in good condition and - like all Corilon instruments - is offered ready to play after a thorough reconditioning in Corilon violin's specialist workshop. The typical French sound is clear, bright and mature.
