This extraordinary good sounding viola emerges from the traditional Markneukirchen school of instrument-making. It was handmade by the experienced luthier M. H. Heckel in Markneukirchen almost one hundred years ago, in 1912. The originally dated label can be found inside the violas' body. The viola is in perfect condition with just some minor repairs. The one-piece back is flamed slightly diagonal, which adds a little dynamic to the instruments appearance. The transparent golden brown coloured varnish is heavily patinated, what fits the violas' antique character very well. Its tonal qualities are outstanding. A bright, warm, carrying, matured and well-balanced sound is complemented by a pretty good response.
