August Edwin Prager (1875-1956) learned the artisanry of bow making from his father Friedrich Wilhelm. After his apprenticeship he worked in the renowned shop of Ludwig Bausch in Leipzig. At the turn of the century he started to work for himself in Schönlind. 1930 he moved to Markneukirchen, where this nice violin bow was crafted. Its octagonal shaft is stiff and features a light brown color. The bow is pretty light and almost without any sensible balance-point. Its head is shaped precisely and demonstrates Prager´s experience and skills. The ebony frog is distinctively designed, the slide and the Parisian eye are made of white mother of pearl. The total length of the bow is 74.0 cm, its measured balance-point is at 27.0 cm from the frog end and sensed in the upper half f the stick. This excellent violin bow was worked over by our luthiers and is offered ready to produce a bright, brilliant, shining and open sound.
