Fine German master violin bow by Franz Winkler, silver

Franz Winkler learned the artisanry of bow making from his father in Markneukirchen. Soon Franz Winkler started to work autonomous and went to the United States, where he gained a lot of experience. At the beginning of the 20th Century he returned to Markneukirchen, where he died in 1962. Franz Winklers works are influenced by several French masters, but his own "Markneukirchen style" is clearly visible throughout. This Franz Winkler bow with an octagonal stick was crafted in the 1950's of medium strong pernambuco wood that features surprisingly high elasticity. The neatly finished ebony frog is silver mounted and decorated with a Pearl eye. Franz Winklers reputation for perfectly balanced bows speaks in this specimen, that was worked over completely by our luthiers and is offered ready to play. The balance-point is well-centered: he measured balance-point of the 74.5 cm long bow is at 25.4 cm from the frog end. The sound produced is warm, clear, large - this bow adds volume to the tone.
