This Carl Heinrich Knopf violin bow is a masterpiece from the best period of work of the famous Saxon bow maker Carl Heinrich Knopf (1839–1875). Its strong round stick made of fine, chestnut-brown pernambuco offers excellent playing properties thanks to its good flexibility, with a bright sound of a pleasantly sweet character. The silver-mounted ebony frog with a mother-of-pearl eye and slide as well as the three-part button reflect the tradition of the Bausch school. This Carl Heinrich Knopf violin bow is in perfect condition, in mint condition and in immediate playing condition – and is also a solid capital investment and a true collector's item.

Carl Heinrich Knopf violin bow brief portrait

  • Renowned provenance: Carl Heinrich Knopf was one of the most renowned Saxon bow makers, who worked for Ludwig Bausch, among others, and successfully established himself in Berlin in 1868.
  • Bausch school: Ludwig Bausch opened up German bow making to French innovations and influenced the style for generations.
  • Premium materials: the Mauritius ebony used for the frog was historically the best material, though it has no longer been available since the mid-20th century. The pernambuco wood used for the stick is just as good.
  • Tone and playing characteristics: this violin bow is suitable for demanding interpretations by semi-professional and professional musicians.
  • Investment and collector's item: beyond its musical quality, this violin bow is a historically interesting find of lasting value.
  • With a certificate of authenticity from H.-K. Schmidt, Dresden.
