About the bow maker Karl Wilhelm Knopf

Karl Wilhelm Knopf (1803–1860) was a member of the second generation of the famous Markneukirchen bow-making dynasty. Like his brother Christian Friedrich Wilhelm Knopf, he brought the artisanal innovations of their father Christian Wilhelm Knopf to full fruition and had a decisive influence on the style of German bow making, both through his own workshop and through his students, who became excellent masters in their own right.
