Contemporary English master violin bow, John W. Stagg, 1990's

This fine contemporary violin bow combines a classy appearance with superb playing characteristics and rare characteristic tonal qualities. The octagonal stick features a rare combination of stiffness and tension, made of red-brown pernambuco wood. The stick features the original stamp of John W. Stagg on the shaft, the name of the contemporary English master bow maker who handcrafted the bow in the 1990's. The black ebony frog is silver mounted and is decorated with a neatly inlaid double silver ring, fine work can be seen in the finish of the silver headplate as well. This great contemporary violin bow is very handy, can be played powerfully and tenderly, shows activity when necessary, with a sensed balance point that is perfectly centered. The measured balance point is at 25,4 cm from the frog end. The sounds produced are warm, precise, notably resonant.
