This perfectly preserved silver mounted German violin bow originates from the workshops of the renowned Markneukirchen bow maker Otto Carl Dürrschmidt. After his death in the year 1922 the business was successfully continued by his two sons Kurt Otto and Carl Wilhelm. They also adopted the traditional brandmark and the initials of their father, so we can find the name OTTO DÜRRSCHMIDT and the OD emblem on the shaft and on the frog. The octagonal stick is made of reddish brown pernambuco wood of good strength. The ebony frog is silver-mounted and adorned with a shimmering pearl slide. It also features a Parisian eye. The Otto Dürrschmidt bow is undamaged and offered ready to play; its total length is 74.8 cm, with a sensed balance-point well centered. Its measured balance-point is at 27.7 cm. This lightweight, handy violin bow produces a clear, bright, precise and crisp sound.
