This fine silver mounted violin bow by Richard Grünke was made late in the 20th century in Bubenreuth, it bears the original Grünke & Söhne stamp on shaft above the frog. Richard Grünke started his apprenticeship as a bow maker in 1945 bei Edwin Hermann in Schönlind and finished after the war years at H. R. Pfretzschner in Markneukirchen, where he worked from 1946 to 1948. The strong, round stick is made of brown pernambuco wood of finest quality, the ebony frog is sterling silver mounted with Parisian eye, mounted on a finely made Hill slide. This interesting Richard Grünke bow has a silver head plate and is a strong, powerful, active player, it feels very comfortable in the hand, it has its felt balance point centred, slightly shifted towards the upper half of the stick. The weight is 62.1 g, the length 74.3 cm. This Grünke bow has a silver headplate and is ready to play and produces a huge, rich, clear sound and is quite active at its weight. Especially recommended.
