This ornate and pleasantly light violin bow hails from the widely respected atelier of Thomas Craig in Aberdeen, Scotland. Its genuine silver fittings are tastefully decorated with a lyre and floral ornamentation, whilst the head is an exceptionally delicate work of expressive character. The eye on the frog was replaced when the bow was completely set up by the specialists in our studio, and the bow is now ready to play. The original stamp reading "Superior Thomas Craig Aberdeen" above the frog is a sign of the high standards this bow fulfils, as can also be seen in the flawless execution of the moderately thick round stick made of premium reddish-brown pernambuco. This bow, which was crafted in the 1950s, is compelling not only because of its refined aesthetic, but also because of its outstanding playing characteristics: its balance point feels well centred and is located at 25.4 cm of the total 73.8 cm. It sits comfortably in your hand and creates a sound that is warm, deep, resonant and dark.
