Fine violin bow, G. A. Pfretzschner

This fine master bow hails from the esteemed atelier of G. A. Pfretzschner. It was made around 1930, a time when the tradition-rich company founded in 1834 was at the peak of its success and sold Saxonian instruments at several branch locations all over the world. The family Pfretzschner has deep roots in the Vogtland and had been working closely with the region's best masters since the early 18th century, and this bow is unmistakably the work of a talented and experienced master bow maker. The octagonal stick is crafted of top-quality light brown pernambuco, a detail which the Pfretzschners always emphasised. Above and beyond its flawless execution, the bow is eye-catchingly beautiful with its metal head plate, premium silver fittings on the ebony frog, mother-of-pearl inlays along the button made of silver and, as an especially rare decorative element, silver inlays shaped like sound holes on the sides of the frog. The bow still features the original stamp on the stick and frog. We received it in undamaged condition and set it up in our atelier; it is ready to play, and we recommend it due to its dynamic, active response and warm, gentle tone.
