An especially beautiful and fine sounding antique French violin. The violin was made in Mirecourt around 1900 on the model of Stradivarius. The top is made of medium to wide grained spruce, the two piece back of mildly flamed maple. The archings are well considered. The varnish is of a bright warm golden yellow-orange color with beautiful patination. The violin is despite a minor repair at the treble soundhole undamaged and very well preserved. The violin is set up and in playing condition with a new bridge and soundpost, tailpiece, chinrest and Pirastro strings. The violin has an excellent strong, powerful, dark and full-bodied sound with a typical french character (no nasality). Special recommendation.
