This 19th century violin from the famous Hopf ateliers in Klingenthal, Saxony, is a truly antique instrument with a wonderful sound that is superior to many other violins sharing the same provenance. The unmistakeable model with the well-known HOPF stamp on the back features the typical "angular" contours, opulently executed edges and a warm brown varnish over a light ground. The scroll has some repairs but is full of character and clearly inspired by italian patterns, the purfling is crafted with great care by an experienced maker. It was like all stringed instruments from Corilon completely worked over by our luthier and is offered ready to play, unfolding its exceptionally beautiful, mature, warm sound full of warmth and light facettes, sophisticated and colorful, precise and strong.
