This attractive antique German violin is a successful Markneukichen/Saxony copy of a violkin by Jakob Stainer, whose distinctive style with Stainer-type sound holes and pronounced arch is well executed. A transparent light-brown varnish over a yellow ground covers the maple of the flamed two piece back, and the medium grained spruce of the top. Beautifully accentuated edges and meticulous purfling round out the historic character of this well preserved handmade instrument of good quality craftsmanship. The appealing expression of a unique handmade violin introduces a very good sounding violin that has been our recommendation in the price range, a crackfree instrument that was well taken care of. With varnish flaws but no repair or damage, this good violin is offered in perfect condition. It was thoroughly and professionally worked over in our atelier and is ready to play, unfolding its powerful, bright sound, that is rich in overtones and assertiveness.
