The Baroque violin from Mirecourt offered here can be seen as a typical representation of a historic model, not despite its unusual silhouette but because of it. This interesting French baroque violin harkens back to a time in which the standards in the field of violin making were more fluid and allowed room for luthiers to set individual stylistic accents. As a violin dating back to circa 1800, it is a comparatively young exemplar of a period instrument, and its unknown luthier patterned it after a delicate yet broad and uniquely proportioned model. This historic baroque violin's craftsmanship demonstrates a superior quality and is rich in character; since it is in outstanding completely crackfree condition, the artisanry can still be seen in the overall construction. It fully upholds the expectations created by its small and conspicuously baroque sound holes and confidently shaped historic scroll. The one-piece top of medium-grained spruce features well-formed and soft fluting; top and one-piece back have no cracks as is rarely seen for an instrument of its age. The baroque violins voice is very strong for a baroque violin and yet extremely warm. It is precise, resonant and silvery in character. A rare piece, this baroque violin has been preserved in nearly perfect condition and was meticulously set up in our restoration workshop. It is now ready to play after having been fitted with a high-quality Baroque bridge and gut strings. This antique piece is affordable, in perfect condition and meets high musical standards.
