The provincial provenance of this beautiful contemporary master violin by Victor Unsworth in Bristol is a stunning fact due to the extraordinary fine quality of this instrument that bears the original maker's label and was built after Guarneri patterns in 1996. The medium high arching of the top, its fine spruce wood and the soft fluting impressively demonstrate the skills of Victor Unsworth as a well-educated master, who chose flamed sycamore maple for the two-piece back. The distinctive soundholes, the purfling and the edges were thoroughly and precisely crafted, a contemporary state-of-the-art master violin that is the clear work of a talented and experienced hand. The milky yet transparent dark red-brown colored oil varnish was richly applied and features a beauty that is rarely found. Some slight craquelle and some most minor storing traces as they can be found on this violin are typical for this kind of quality varnish. Our experienced luthiers worked over this good instrument to yield a perfect tone and spent time and effort according to the quality of the violin, that expresses its amazing soloist voice ready to play, with a dark, brilliant, radiant sound that is rich in overtones and resonant.
