This 1960 masterpiece was created by the expert violin-making master Otto Wolf not far from Bubenreuth, Franconia's capital city, as it were, of building stringed and plucked instruments. Wolf based this violin on a model of his own design, and its allusion to Italian characteristics is apparent. The accurate purfling and the large, elegant scroll deserve special mention. The instrument has the original hand-written label that says, “H. Otto Wolf Geigenbaumeister Erlangen 1960” (H. Otto Wolf, master violin maker, Erlangen 1960). The top-quality tone woods have a light brown varnish with a harmonious-looking aesthetic. This violin is in perfect condition and has a large sound which is excellent for soloists. We can strongly recommend it: open, precise, bright and clear, full of substance and warmth in the lower registers.
