This French violin after Louis Guersan is an interesting piece made by an unknown French maker around 1900. It probably hails from Mirecourt, home of French violin making. The violin bears a label "Louis Guersan" indicating the model. This rare piece shows expert craftmanship to the very detail. The tonewoods are of the finest quality and selection, the top is made of fine to medium grained spruce, the two piece back of deeply flamed maple. The golden-brown oil varnish was made with slight antiqueings. This French violin with high arch is in in excellent undamaged condition, it has been meticulously worked over in our atelier and is now offered in fine and immediate playing condition. The violins well-balanced sound is bright and clear, rich in overtones and of a somewhat sweet character.
