This beautiful French master violin with a great sound was made in 1929 by Gustave Villaume (*1899) in Mirecourt. Gustave Villaume studied with Leon Mougenot and Gand and was himself a successful winner of three silver medals in violin making competitions in Mirecourt in 1911, 1912 and 1913. His model is typically after Guarnerius. The sound is warm, somewhat mellow and mature, rich in overtones and radiant. The varnish is a wonderfully patinated, transparent light yellow oil varnish. This fine Gustave Villaume violin with original label and brand stamps on the back has been completely worked up, is crackfree, ready to play and in very good condition. A certificate from the Parisian expert J.-J. Rampal is included in the price.
