French violin made in Mirecourt aprund 1900

This unmistakably old French Mirecourt violin with its attractively antique appearance was crafted by JTL in the 1910's in Mirecourt, the famous violin-making town in the Vosges Mountains. The same region also provided the beautiful tonewoods for the violin, which was patterned after a model by Antonio Stradivari. The  orange-brown varnish shows many signs from playing; the deeply carved scroll is distinctly French in character. The violin makers in our workshop have thoroughly gone over this gorgeous French "Stradivarius-violin" which is preserved crack free and has a high quality tone, set it up and made it ready to play to a high standard. Its powerful sound, rich in overtones, is balanced and resonant, a good example of the high standards of French violins in violin making.
