This lion head violin from the Bavarian Mittenwald is one of the high quality instruments of its kind, which not only impresses with its popular décor but also with its particularly good musical characteristics. Remarkably, this lion head violin remains completely preserved in its original condition with the original fingerboard, the original neck and bass bar. This this interesting lion head violin is also a historical rarity. Its high standard of craftsmanship is immediately recognizable by the fine edgework, delicate workmanship seen in the datils of arching and soundholes. The violin was built around 1800. The antique appearance of the varnish, which is typical for the region, is of a darkened colour, which has developed an interesting patina and bears expressive traces of use. At an extensive revision in our specialized workshop our luthiers have paid special attention to preserving the violin's original condition. This lion head violin is ready to play and unfolds its clear and powerful voice with best precision and convinces with a warm, clear, silvery, resonant and mature sound.
