Powerful and unmistakably from Mittenwald, the sound of this Laurenz Niggl violin is exceptionally good. It was crafted in 1947 by Laurenz Niggl, a name with a long-standing tradition which has appeared repeatedly since the mid-20th century throughout the history of the internationally esteemed violin-making Bavarian town of Mittenwald. The Laurenz Niggl label stands for a faithful orientation towards the finest local artisanal traditions, and this violin with its original dated label shows at a glance that it was created by a magnificently trained master with a musically and stylistically confident hand. Beneath the luminous transparent light-brown spirit oil varnish, the attractive grain of the confidently chose top-tier tone woods is highlighted beautifully: the top of moderately grained spruce and maple cut from the slab was taken for the one-piece back. This lovely model and the cleanly carved scroll give this excellent Laurenz Niggl Mittenwald instrument a personal note that is a fine complement to its outstanding and expressive acoustic properties. The radiant clear sound of this full-blooded Mittenwald violin kept in flawless condition easily satisfies high musical standards, and it is a compelling choice with its powerful, timbre-rich voice whose potential we brought to its fullest as we carefully set it up at our workshop.
