Old Czech violin - "The Metro Violin Class"

This Czech student violin was built in the 1920s and is the typical example of instruments that were built for children in violin classes, in this case, following Frank Bonner´s "Metro Violin Class Method". These projects aimed towards greater musical education and increased the demand for instruments that were sold at economical rates, but featured good musical qualities for educational purposes. Two other 3/4 sized violins in our catalogue are comparable to this instrument, one by Boosey and Hawkes and another by Murdoch & Co. The violin offered here is a successfully crafted piece after a large Stradivari model and bears the numbered original label „The Metro Violin Class Organisation, London, reg. nr. BL / 9765“. It was obviously handled with care and is preserved in very good condition. The glossy, goldenbrown spirit varnish has some few traces of use. The sound of this Metro Class violin is strong and rich in volume, with charming dark and clear character. We offer this interesting, well-priced student instrument in ready-to-play condition, after a complete work-over by our luthier.
