This particularly beautiful handmade old English violin was made in 1923 by Thoms Barlow in Stoneham, Southhampton and bears the original label. Thomas Barlow experimented for many years with different shapes, which are relatively rarely available. The mature appearance of the richly applied golden-yellow colored oil varnish which has developed patina and craquellation is complemented by good quality tonewoods, medium grained spruce that was used for the top and deeply flamed maple, that was used for the two piece back. The model is a personal Stradivarius model with broad c-bouts and full medium arch, the violin features a quite attractive individually shaped violin scroll. This beautiful English violin is preserved crackfree and in excellent condition. It has been worked over by the luthiers in our workshop and is offered ready to play. The sound is of good strength and brilliant clarity, dark, silvery and resonant, rich in overtones, unique in character. Like all violins we offer online this includes Corilon's trade-guarantee and an optional certificate of appraisal.
