An excellent antique 19th century Hopf violin. The instrument is an original Hopf instrument that was made in the Klingenthal Hopf ateliers around 1820. The violin is stamped Hopf inside and outside on the back. The model is the typical squary Hopf model of the time. The archings are held flat. The top is made of medium to fine grained spruce, the two piece back of narrow flamed maple. The scroll is possibly a later work. The violin is despite a minor repair to the outer f-wing at the bass side undamaged and crackfree. It is set up with a new bridge, soundpost and strings and is in full playing condition. The sound is of outstanding character: strong, clear and mature, colorful with beautiful brightness in the higher ranges and excellent clear volume in the lower ranges. Special recommendation!
