This French Baroque violin, a professional Instrument by Jean Nicolas Lambert dating back to circa 1750, has an unusually full and rich sound which will perfectly satisfy the musical expectations of professional Baroque violinists performing today.
A baroque violin from the late oeuvre of Jean Nicolas Lambert, a Parisian master who died in late 1759, this mature piece demonstrates how refined the artistic abilities were of this versatile and prolific master craftsman of violins and lutes; it also reflects the choice of top-quality materials Jean Nicolas Lambert had at his disposal after his decades of professional success. The master selected maple with deep and tight flames – and very competently cast its beautiful grain in its finest light – for the two-piece back as well as for the ribs and scroll, which itself is an exquisite carving with a distinctive and expressive aesthetic. This violins beauty is also due in no small part to the orange-brownish varnish which has lost nothing of its luminous lustre after around 270 years. Kept in original condition with the original neck and scroll, free of cracks and with only a minor repair to the ribs, this baroque violin, which features Lambert‘s brand mark on the button, communicates a premium antique instrument’s rich musical history. At one point in the violin’s story, its top was replaced by a replica which was crafted with the greatest care and attention to the details of the original; this is why we can offer this Jean Nicolas Lambert violin at an unusually affordable price, and it is covered by our trade-in guarantee. Set up for Baroque music by the expert luthiers at our workshop, this interesting violin offers professional Baroque violinists of our day all of the features of its multi-facetted and full voice with a volume that is quite uncommon in historic Baroque violins.
