This antique Scottish violin was made by violin maker J. Millar in Edinburgh in 1890 and is a very successfully crafted, nice instrument that features a fine antique appearance. The heavily worn, golden brown colored oil varnish underlines the mild flaming of the two-piece maple back tastefully; it was richly applied and developed interesting craquele, wear and patina that determines the character of this violin. The purfling was inlaid with utmost care and extends well into the corners; it is the clear work of an experienced hand just as the beautiful carving of the scroll and the pegbox. This antique Scottish violin was worked over completely by our experienced luthiers and is offered with minor repairs in good condition, ready to express bright sweet sound recommended for players seeking a sound which is not too loud in tonal strength.
