This old French 3/4-sized violin was built approx. 1880 in the renowned J.T.L. workshops in the French violin making town of Mirecourt. The violin is a good example of the successful Médio-Fino series that has additionally gained some tonal quality with its age of more than 100 years. Under this brand name J.T.L. offered stringed instruments at reasonable rates that feature straightforward standards of craftsmanship but good playing properties for educational purposes. The French 3/4 violin offered here features medium high archings and was built after a proven model of the classical Italian master Antonio Stradivari. Table and back are each executed in one pieces and demonstrate the careful work of the J.T.L. violin makers, who concentrated on any detail that is important for the sound of the violin, while the purfling as an ornament is scratched. Our expert luthiers worked over this undamaged violin completely, that bears trace of use on its red-brown colored varnish but no cracks. It is offered ready to play, with a bright and warm sound that will be a pleasure to play for young violinists.
