French violin No. 15 by Pierre Claudot, Marseille

This attractive French violin by Pierre Claudot was made in Marseille in 1949. It was made as No. 15, a very elegant and mature high quality piece of work on an individual Stradivarius model - originally labeled and stamped. The top is made of medium grained spruce, the two piece back of especially attractive deeply flamed maple. A deep dark red color complements the mature appearance of this violin that features an enigmatic, dark and sweet sound of mature power and good strength.
