This old German cello bow is a quality masterpiece by Bubenreuth master Alfons Riedl, Bavaria, that was built approx. 1960 and bears Alfons Riedl´s original stamp. Alfons Riedl was expelled from Schönbach in Bohemia after World War II and settled in Bavaria, where he continued the instrument making traditions of his family. The strong round stick of this bow was crafted of red-brown colored pernambuco wood and features convincing stability, strength and elasticity. The measured balance point is at 25.5 cm of 71.5 cm total length and is sensed in the lower half of the bow. The fine handmade ebony frog, a small Pearl eye that is made of yellow shimmering mother-of-pearle just as the slide, and a three-part adjuster decorate this perfectly preserved cello bow. We offer this interesting work in best condition, ready to play after a complete work-over in our atelier, with a special recommendation for its good playing properties and the large, clear and strong sound.
