Antique cello from Markneukirchen. This lovely German cello was made around 1940 by an unknown maker in the Saxonian violin-making town of Markneukirchen. Traces from extensive playing confirm the instrument's age, and also reflects how much its previous owner appreciated this instrument, which is wholly appropriate for a cello that is as aesthetically lovely as it is acoustically beautiful. The good quality of the tone woods is clearly evident in the well-chosen maple with its mild flaming. Subtle antiqueings on the transparent light-brown varnish enhance the character of this old cello. It is in very good condition and has only two well made and stable table repairs which have no effect on the sound. Our luthiers have meticulously set up the cello and made it ready to play, and we recommend it thanks to its large, warm sound — a deep, gentle tenor voice.
