This French 3/4 violin is an exceptionally rare 3/4-sized instrument, that was built in the late 19th century in the renowned workshops of Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (J.T.L.) in Mirecourt. It is one of the highly sought-after "Compagnon" instruments by J.T.L., that can be compared to the well-known "Médio Fino" violins. Only very few children´s violins are pieces of such skillfull craftsmanship, as it is demonstrated by the finely crafted purfling and the scroll that is a good reference for the educated aesthetic sense of the violin maker. The beautiful tonewoods from the Vosges mountains are carefully selected, with distinctive, rare grain at the two-piece back and the top. Dark orange-red varnish with traces from time determine the antique appearance of this great 3/4 instrument that is offered in the best condition and was worked-over by our luthier. Its sound is warm and fluid, with the typical mature character of antique stringed instruments.
