“C'est si bon”: this attractive French 1/8 violin is a rare size and was made for the workshop of Paul Beuscher in Paris. Established in 1850 by guitar maker Hyppolite “Paul” Beuscher, the music shop still exists today and is an excellent address that became a meeting place for great talents over the course of its history. It particularly drew in jazz and chanson musicians whose pieces were published in-house. This 1/8 violin bears Paul Beuscher's original label and was crafted most likely by J.T.L. in Mirecourt, where a Stradivari model was followed with finely made purfling. The top and back of the 1/8 violin are both one-piece, and maple with an especially beautiful, mild grain was selected for the back. The violin was meticulously worked over by our luthier and fitted with a new bridge, sound post and Pirastro strings, etc., so that it is ready to play immediately. Its sound is bright, warm and open — not too loud and featuring a very pleasant character.
