Good sounding 1/4 violin, Schopper Leipzig atelier

This quarter-sized violin of exceptionally rare quality came from the atelier of R. Schopper, who was an appointed purveyor of musical instruments for the court in Leipzig. This violin of German origin was made around 1920 and may well have come from the Saxonian region of Vogtland, much as its merchant, Hermann Robert Schopper, did. Born in Adorf in 1859, Schopper fashioned many of his products in Markneukirchen; his wind instruments in particular still enjoy an outstanding reputation among professional musicians today. This violin is noteworthy because of the outstanding quality of its craftsmanship and its exceptionally good acoustic properties. The premium tone woods have a golden-coloured background with a transparent light-brown varnish: the instrument features elegant details such as the precisely applied purfling. A few traces of use on this otherwise undamaged violin free of cracks show that it has been played with great relish. The little beauty can be warmly recommended as a special instrument for young talents thanks to its sound, which is extremely powerful, bright and warm for its size. It was worked over completely by our luthiers and is ready to play.
