A rare old Mittenwald half sized violin, made by Sebastian Hornsteiner in 1970 in the Staatliche Fachschule für Geigenbau (Mittenwald school of violin making) in Mittenwald. Outstanding instruments made in the violin making school were signed on the label by their makers, such as this one. The violin is signed by Sebastian Hornsteiner on the label and bears the number 600 of the violin making school. The number and the logo of the school are additionally branded on the lower rib at the end button. The violin is an especially beautiful piece of work that was made in the Mittenwald tradition, the scroll was made in a typical Mittenwald style and is especially beautiful. The inlaid purfling is neatly made. The violin is undamaged and in perfect condition. The sound is warm and bright and a bit mellow in the lower ranges. This violin was worked over completely in our atelier and is offered ready to play.
