This old French 1/2 violin, built in Mirecourt at the end of the 19th century, features a lovely sound of warmth and character, dark with a slightly soft undertone. The deeply carved scroll of unmistakeable french character and the typical tonewoods from the Vosges mountains clearly show the origin of the instrument. The top of this French 1/2 violin is made of regular grained spruce, the back of attractively grained maple with asymmetrical, broad flames. This nice violin is a suitable student instrument offered in very good condition, with a relatively wide neck assisting in many exercises.
