Around 1870 the renowned violin manufacturing company Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (JTL) in Mirecourt produced violins of straightforward standard under the brand „Médio Fino“, which were designed with very good sound and playability properties meeting the needs especially of younger musicians. This antique 3/4 violin with the original „Médio Fino“ label is from of the sought-after 19th century series with yellow varnish. The one-piece top and back are typical for these instruments, made of soft, wide to fine grained spruce and maple, as well as the scratched purfling. The unmistakably French scroll is a nice detail of the old 3/4 violin. Meticulously worked over by our professional luthiers, set up with new boxwood fittings, in undamaged, perfect condition with some traces of use this rare antique 3/4 violin is featuring a warm sound, full of character, large, rounded and with the mature nuances of an old instrument.
