French 1/4 violin in rare quality - with some repairs offered at a special price
With a body length of 29 cm, this antique quality French small-sized violin belongs to the rare children's violins in a 1/4 size, which many small players particularly appreciate for their handiness and tonal advantages. With its orange-brown, very transparent and luminous varnish as well as the characteristic scroll, it is recognizable as a typical French children's violin from the violin making town of Mirecourt and was probably made around 1900 in the workshops of the renowned company Jérôme Thibouville-Lamy (J.T.L.). The attractive, mild flaming of the one-piece maple back determines the character of this antique 1/4 violin, which is rounded off by expressive playing marks and some repairs on the top; they show that the instrument, built after a proven Stradivari model, was played by good young musicians who were confident even in high registers. After a complete workover in our specialized workshop, we offer this interesting French 1/4 violin immediately ready to play, recommending its powerful sound, warm, strong, deep and resonant.
