István Kónya is the first master luthier in his family, which also includes his sons Stefano Conia (István Kónya Jr.) and Lajos Kónya, both excellent luthiers in their own right. The viola offered here was made in the early years after the father's return from Cremona and is imbued with the modern Italian style of the best masters of the time – an exceptionally beautiful instrument for the most exacting professional demands.
