With this Mario Gadda viola, we are adding an especially rare instrument to our collection: an exquisite personal work made by the internationally esteemed Italian master himself. It is a viola which can be wholeheartedly recommended for professional performance with a soloist orientation due to its pleasant size, its extremely nuanced playing properties and its large, warm, bright, sweet voice. Here Mario Gadda has achieved a perfect interpretation of Stefano Scarampella's violin model, whose tradition he represented as the heir of his father Gaetano Gadda, who in turn was the only student of Scarampella and was justifiably seen as his worthy successor. Scarampella's inimitable style reaches its utmost expression in the harmonious aesthetic of this instrument, which is made of the finest tone woods and enhanced by the enigmatic play of colours under the transparent luminous orange-brown oil varnish. An original certificate by Mario Gadda, multiple brand marks and his label inside the viola's body all confirm that this is his own personal work. This late piece by the master who died in 2008 displays the full breadth of the experience and musical sensitivity he applied in giving this viola its typically Italian and magnificently well-rounded sound. Kept in perfect condition and now ready to play after having been thoroughly set up at our workshop, this youthful viola is ready to guide you along expeditions into the demanding literature of all epochs.
