Neuner & Hornsteiner viola, Mittenwald circa 1920

This old Neuner & Hornsteiner viola of Mittenwald is full of character. It has a striking aesthetic with wonderful woods, a luminous varnish of a particularly attractive, radiant orange-brown color over a luminous golden yellow ground. There is a playful elegance to its distinctive scroll, accurately and gracefully curved sound holes and wonderfully crafted edges and inlays.
