A light and handy violin bow in the classic French tradition with a radiant, resonant character – for virtuoso playing.
In the period after the Second World War, François Lotte (1889–1970) was able to build on the success of the workshop he founded in 1926, supplying renowned violin makers with his work. The violin bow offered here, made around 1950, shows that Lotte had the freedom to explore interesting artisanal avenues during this period, where he deviated from his relatively strong standard model and, as in this case, created exceptionally light and comfortable-to-play instruments that are excellent for virtuoso playing.
With a total weight of only 56 g, an extremely hand-friendly ebony frog and a center of gravity that tends slightly towards the upper half, this highly active François Lotte violin bow also opens up complicated bowing techniques intuitively and with welcome tolerance for error. The round stick is made of premium-quality, light-brown pernambuco, with its exceptionally beautiful dark grain skillfully showcased in the area of the head. Classically equipped with a high-quality nickel mount, a mother-of-pearl eye at the frog and another at the three-part button, this unstamped French violin bow is in undamaged, very good condition. Tested by the experts at the Corilon workshop, it is in immediate playing condition and has a highly recommended bright sound with a carrying, resonant substance.
