Antique French violin bow with a Vuillaume ribbon and a silver mounted frog. This fine French violin bow was made around 1880 in the outstanding bow workshop of the renowned house of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy and presents itself in good condition. The house of Jerome Thibouville-Lamy employed many of the best bow makers of his time, such as Jean-Joseph Martin, Louis Gillet, Pierre Auguste Barbé, Charles Husson, Jean Joseph Maline und Nicolas Thomassin. The lightweight, flexible round stick was made from first quality pernambuco, with a highly successful distribution of thickness, tension and elasticity and a finely and beautifully crafted head. With an overall length of 74.6 cm, the center of gravity of the ready-to-play violin bow is perfectly centered, so that the bow lies balanced in the hand over the entire stick. A very good piece of work with many playing marks, but as expected it combines all the desired characteristics and produces a large, strong, warm and characterful sound. A certificate from J.-F. Raffin Paris is included in the price.
