The great Parisian master Joseph Alfred Lamy "Père" created this elegant violin bow around 1900, at the zenith of his career as a bow maker, which ranks among his most refined pieces. With its moderately thick, round stick of dark brown pernambuco, its broader head and powerful phases, this Lamy bow reflects a special and distinctive character within Joseph Alfred Lamy's oeuvre. The Parisian eye and capsule adjuster are of the finest craftsmanship. When played, the violin bow has wonderful elasticity, and its balance point tends ever so slightly towards the tip; its sound is bright, warm and clear. A historic masterpiece for the utmost in musical standards, that was worked over completely and is ready to play; this fine Joseph Alfred Lamy violin bow bears the original stamp “A.
